Reservations and Fees
Beginning in 2024, the City of Charleston has introduced an easy time-block reservation system for the Lake Pavilion. The day is divided into four 3-hour rental slots, allowing flexibility for visitors to choose a time that best fits their plans:
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Fees:
Monday–Thursday: Free of charge
Friday–Sunday: $10 per 3-hour block
This affordable rate makes it one of the best values for a park rental in the area.
Reservations can be made online through the Charleston Parks and Recreation website, but must be completed at least 5 days in advance of the event. Those who prefer to handle reservations in person or by phone may do so up to 48 hours before their desired date. This system ensures fair access while keeping scheduling flexible for everyone.
Capacity and Amenities
The Lake Pavilion comfortably accommodates up to 40 people, making it ideal for birthday parties, small receptions, picnics, or casual corporate outings. The structure is covered, offering shelter from sun and rain, and nearby open spaces provide additional room for games, decorations, and outdoor seating.
Restrooms, water fountains, and parking areas are located conveniently nearby, and visitors can easily access walking trails or scenic viewpoints along Lake Charleston.
Rules and Regulations
To help preserve the pavilion and its natural surroundings, visitors are asked to follow a few simple rules:
No decorations that could damage surfaces — this includes staples, nails, tape, silly string, water balloons, or confetti.
Alcohol is strictly prohibited in all Charleston city parks, facilities, and ballfields.
Guests must leave the area clean and remove any trash or personal items after use.
Pets are welcome but must be leashed and under control at all times.
The city’s park policies also outline rules regarding vending, advertising, lost and found items, and special use permits. These are designed to ensure that every visitor enjoys a pleasant and safe experience at Lake Charleston.
Hours and Accessibility
The Lake Pavilion is open to the public during general park hours — typically 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily — unless otherwise noted by park authorities or closed for maintenance or emergencies. Parking is available close to the pavilion, and paths are accessible for those with mobility needs.
Why Visit Lake Charleston’s Pavilion

Surrounded by serene lake views and lush greenery, it captures the essence of small-town outdoor recreation. Families often bring picnics, friends gather for sunset meals, and morning visitors enjoy peaceful walks by the water before the day begins.
The Lake Charleston area is also popular among kayakers, anglers, bird-watchers, and photographers, thanks to its calm waters and scenic shoreline. The pavilion serves as a perfect base for any of these activities — a shaded spot to rest, eat, or reconnect with nature.
